Desecration Series #1: Prescribed Burnings Unisex Long Sleeve Tee
$35.00
The Desecration Series is a limited run of Iowa City disaster focused long sleeve t shirts of highly questionable taste for the sole purpose of raising funds for the 2023 season of the Feed Me Weird Things performance series. The hope is to offset some of the behind the scenes costs: hotels, backline, graphic design, printing, performance and support fees- in order to continue the caliber of artists traveling to Iowa City and sharing their work with us, while keeping the ticket price structure as low as possible for audiences of adventurous music.
Done in the aesthetic of DIY 90's noise cassettes the washed, photocopy-like contrasts add a timeless fog and haunting stillness to these large scale catastrophes. Like the body horror that gorenoise album covers confronted, the images here capture four specific disasters (Pest Houses of Hickory Hill, Capitol Fire, Downtown Tornado, Arts Campus Flood) and look unflinchingly at the effects these moments had in the history of our community. We are shaped equally by our triumphs as we are our tragedies.
Yes, each comes in Hawkeye Yellow.
